Glacier National Park

Virginia Falls in East Glacier.
Such a beautiful hike.

Lisa was such a "grape nut" trying to teach me to wash my hair in the lake. I just couldn't do it, and paid $5 for a real shower down the road at the KOA.
Lisa, you are such a granola!
Dan and Keith spent an hour tying up the kayaks to try to get to an island on East Glacier. When we drove an hour to get there, we decided the wind was too high and we needed to change the plan. (We wanted to live to see our grandchildren some day). But, we did have a great hike to some fabulous waterfalls.

"Come Thou Fount of every blessing. Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
Mount of God's unchanging love."

Robert Robinson, Methodist Pastor

This was a view from our campsite at early morning. I ate my granola and drank my coffee each morning here trying to keep warm by a ray of sunshine.

Unfortunately, it took us a little while to catch on to the bear regulations. We received 2 pink slips for 2 days in a row since we didn't pack up our cooler out of site (in the truck) and we didn't empty our water.
Thank goodness the ranger didn't handcuff or tazer Keith. We thankfully escaped the $100 fine.
Linda hid down by the lake during the ranger lecture since she did receive the "Good Citizen Award" from Marion Center High School in 1974 and this would be a black mark on her record!
A great 8 mile hike to the "Road to the Sun". Unfortunately, it was closed most of the way due to snow and avalanche.

On our way to East Glacier.
Keith and Dan on a kayak trip around the lake. it was a beautiful morning. Lisa and I were already launched.

We've been at Glacier National Park for the past 5 days with our wonderful friends from Michigan, Dan and Lisa Zeck. We've been through "Zeck" vacations before which involve bike trips, kayaking, and usually some scars. We had a beautiful campsite at Fish Creek and spent everyday kayaking across Lake McDonald for a great cup of coffee and then a major hike. Dan and Keith enjoyed the campfires while Lisa and Linda were too tired to stay up late.

It was quite chilly in the morning. We could see our breath with temps in the upper 30's each morning. I would stand in any ray of sunshine to get warmed up while the coffee was brewing.

This was a pretty rustic campsite, without electricity or showers. We had to keep our food and coolers in the truck due to the bear regulations. We even had to keep our water bottles and table cloth out of site. Our cell phones and computer went dead, so we were really in the wilderness. But, the scenery was awesome.
